Changing Your Approach to Achieve Your Desired Outcome!

Legend has it, when Thomas Edison invented the Light Bulb, that he failed 1,000 times, some say it was 10,000 times before he finally found a combination that worked!

He was asked about the number of times he had failed and his reply was

"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work!"

He learned from his failures, refused to give up, believed in his objective and kept trying a new approach until he finally found an approach that worked! All of us have benefited from such a remarkable invention ever since.

If you’ve ever had the opportunity to talk to, or even read about many of the most successful people in their field, successful entrepreneurs etc, you will discover a common trait among them is

The reason they are successful is because they have failed more times than anybody else!

This means they refused to give up when they experienced failure, they understood that failure was part of the learning process and as long as they kept trying, as long as they we willing to chnage their approach, that they would eventually achieve their desired outcome.

So failures are a part of our lives and we should welcome failures as part of the learning process. After all, when each of us was a youngster and trying to walk, we all fell down several times, but refused to give up, and so we tried again and again, until we achieved the outcome of standing on our own and soon we began to walk.

Sp changing the approach each time is the key to learning from our failures and moving closer to achieving our most desired outcome.

Steps to changing your approach to achieve your desired outcome:

So as adults, what are the more effective ways to change your approach?

Steps to changing your approach to achieve your desired outcome:

1. Define Your Outcome.

Write down clearly what you want to achieve. Be specific about your goals and ensure they are measurable and by a specific date. This step involves identifying the desired result and setting clear, actionable objectives.

Example: "I want to increase my sales by 20% within the next six months."

2. Describe How You Will Feel.

Visualize and describe the emotions and feelings you will experience once you achieve your desired outcome. This step helps create a strong emotional connection to your goal, increasing your motivation and commitment.

Example: "Achieving this sales increase will make me feel accomplished, confident, and

financially secure."

3. How to Change Your Approach.

Assess your current strategies and identify what isn’t working. Brainstorm new methods, techniques, or strategies that could lead to better results. Be open to experimenting with different approaches and learning from failures.

Example: "Instead of relying solely on cold calls, I will leverage social media marketing and referral programs to reach a wider audience and engage potential customers more effectively."

4. Scale Up.

Once you find an approach that works, think about how you can expand and amplify it. This might involve increasing resources, automating processes, or exploring new markets. The goal is to build on your success and achieve even greater outcomes.

Example: "After seeing positive results from my new marketing strategies, I will allocate more budget to these channels, hire additional sales staff, and explore international markets to further boost sales."

By following these steps, you can systematically change your approach and increase your chances of achieving your desired outcome.

Finally. Apart from changing the approach, the most important strategy is one of refusing to give up, an attitude that if other people can do it, then so can you, you just need to figure out the right approach that works for you.
